COVID-19 Response | United States

Besides continuing with our mission, which is to help children and families in need worldwide, during this pandemic, it was and it is time to help our own! We had several board members/volunteers from our organization that lost their jobs due to the Covid-19. Through donations and with all the support from the Eyes Of A Child board of directors, on April 14 (Tuesday) we sent checks of $500 and $1000 (according to the size of the families) to each family that was struggling during this pandemic, people who have dedicated their time supporting our organization for many years. We believe that together we can make a difference. We are all in this TOGETHER! A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help those affected by the Covid-19.

COVID-19 Response | Peru

Even before the pandemic, the situation in Peru was not easy, as the pandemic outbreak came, it impacted even more many Peruvian families. In September 2020, EOAC received a request from one of our board directors that a family in Peru was going through a lot of financial difficulties: the Castro Family. The family consisted of Gustavo (the husband), Yrene (the wife), and their children Gustavito, which has Down Syndrome (9 years old), and Fernando (3 years old). The Castro Family moved from Venezuela to Peru in September 2019. They left the country because they couldn’t make enough money to feed their family. Gustavo lost his job as an accountant due to Venezuela’s bad economy. Although Yrene has two jobs, they still can’t make enough money, as they take care of their two kids and Yrene’s mom, which suffers from advanced Alzheimer. As Eyes of A Child was melted by the Castro family situation, the board of directors approved the organization to send them financial support, a check of $500. The check was sent on September 28, 2020.

COVID-19 Response | Mexico

The COVID-19 has changed everyone’s plans, but EOAC didn’t stop! During the pandemic, the Rosarito Project has become stronger. Through donations, during the whole year, EOAC was able to send funds to our center in Rosarito, Mexico. At the center and in the Rosarito community, our organization supports about 100 children in need. With the lack of products in the grocery stores, EOAC wanted to guarantee the families of the community had food. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated to help those affected by the Covid-19. ♥️

Homeless Lives Matter Too | 2020

“BECAUSE HOMELESS LIVES MATTER TOO!”

During this Covid-19 outbreak, Eyes of a Child engaged in a new project: Covid-19: Because Homeless Lives Matter Too 2020

The project consisted of distributing homeless people “Care Bags” with essential hygiene and food items, and critically needed face masks.

Los Angeles, California: To help many homeless in Los Angeles, Eyes of a Child sealed a partnership with Microsoft employees in Seattle, through our board member Anderson Gobbi. To make it happen, Pr. Miguel Albanez from the First Brazilian Baptist Church of Los Angeles volunteered to personally distribute the Care Bags to as many homeless as possible in the Los Angeles area.

Why this matter to us? In addition to their already unfortunate situation of bad health conditions, their access to resources is even more limited now with fewer people on the street and non-profits cutting down their outreach. The homeless who usually move around as a community is not able to avoid spread to one another easily. They need our help, and they need it now. If we help them, we are helping our entire community too.

  • Each Care Bag contained the following items: one Facemask, one Colgate toothbrush, one Crest whitening toothpaste, 2 water bottles, 4 rolls of toilet paper, one Chocolate, one Natural Valley granola bar, one pack dry pineapple snack, 4 Lifesavers green mints, one travel-size Degree deodorant, 2 small bags of Welch’s fruit snacks, one travel-size tissue, 2 Ziploc small bags, one Chap Ice mini lip balm, one small easy-to-open and ready-to-eat can of Vienna Sausage, and one travel-size Jergens/Cure lotion.

The Completion of the Project (May 2020)

We are glad to announce that 150 Care Bags were distributed to the homeless people in Downtown LA. 45 Care Bags distributed in May 2020.

The Care Bags were distributed at the Royal Pagoda Motel in Chinatown (995 N Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012). The motel serves the homeless community by providing them shelter during certain times of the year. For the safety of the homeless people and the members of the organization, the bags were distributed to the management of the motel, properly sanitized, and then distributed to 45 homeless.

100 Care Bags were distributed in July 2020

The Care Bags were distributed at a Homeless Community Center in Huntington Park. For the safety of the homeless and the members of the organization, the bags were distributed to the management of the community, properly sanitized, and then distributed to 100 homeless.

Enactus City University of Seattle: Care Bags distributed in April 2020.

The Care Bags were distributed at the Enactus City University in Seattle, Washington (521 Wall Street, Seattle, WA 98121) through the Nonprofit organization “The Sophia Way” that helps fight homelessness in Seattle.

New Years Project

San Fernando Valley Project

Since 2018, we support families with children in need throughout the year. We also celebrate the holidays by providing fun activities to them. We get together at a communicy center in San Fernando Valley, California.

We get together twice a year to distribute the families: food baskets, blankets, clothes, school supplies, school uniforms, holiday gifts, toys, and many more. EOAC provides financial support that comes from donations throughout the year to help maintain the program.

Even though California is one of the richest states in the United States, many families struggle on the daily basics. The state’s standard of living is high. Our goal is to help them go through their hardship times.

Roof Program

Since 2016, Eyes of a Child supports the families in Rosarito, Mexico by repairing their house roofs that were damaged by the heavy rain and strong wind.

We carefully select about 4-6 families per year in the Rosarito community to repair their roofs to brand new. We provide financial support that comes from donations to help maintain the program.
