Born and raised in Sinaloa, Mexico. Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Sciences. Matilde moved to California in 2001 and has worked in the affordable housing development sector for over 18 years. She is currently the Senior Asset Manager at East LA Community Corporation. Matilde has been an active volunteer at Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) since 2012, after her daughter was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes. She has been the Chair of the JDRF One Walk Committee, assisted in JDRF Gala, conferences, media events, and she is currently part of the JDRF Family Mentor Program supporting newly diagnosed Spanish speaking families. She lives with her 3 daughters and 2 dogs.
